C 230 Sports Version: The Most Advanced Engine Line-up in the Market Segment
The C 230 Sports Version features a newly developed V6 engine boasting improved performance and torque characteristics based on a unique combination of high-tech engineering. This includes variable adjustment of both the intake and exhaust camshafts, thereby ensuring that the 24 valves are opened and closed at the most favourable time according to engine load. In turn, this substantially enhances the charge cycle in the cylinders and reduces energy losses, as well as contributing to improved fuel economy when the engine is operating at partial loads.
In addition, the intake ducts are equipped with tumble flaps that enhance fuel intake and combustion of the fuel-air mixture. These swivel open under partial load, thereby increasing the turbulence of the gas flow into the combustion chambers, reducing fuel consumption as well as enhancing engine smoothness. Calculated in line with NEDC methods, the new C 230 Sports Version consumes 9.3-9.6 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres (combined consumption; saloon model).
With an output of 150 kW/204 hp, the V6 engine also displays exemplary torque characteristics, delivering a peak of 245 Newton metres across a broad rpm range (2,900-5,500) and thereby providing powerful acceleration and rapid sprints. From a standing start, the C 230 Sports Version accelerates to 100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds (saloon model) and reaches a top speed of 245 km/h.
The C 230 Sports Version is fitted as standard with a seven-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. Further highlights in the extensive and high-grade range of standard equipment include the THERMATIC air-conditioning system, the active-safety NECK-PRO headrests for driver and front passenger, window airbags, seat-belt tensioners and tension limiters (front and rear), a multifunctional steering wheel, sport suspension, leather sports seats, sports pedals, polished sporty exhaust system and 17" alloy wheels.
